In a matter of seconds a family’s life is changed forever. When one person decides to take the life of another, it has impacts that go far beyond those two people. There is a ripple affect starting with the victim's family that spreads throughout our community.
Not only do we have to deal with the trauma and grief of losing a loved one, all of a sudden a funeral needs to be arranged, family and friends need to be notified and one less income exists to provide for the household. This is only the beginning... If a suspect is ever identified and charged, there will be a criminal justice process that could last more than two years forcing the family to re-live the trauma and loss over the years.
